So my mom and I have been working the same waitress job for 5-6 years now. She had been waitressing years before, but this is recently. Her people are from Florence, this and that, and she said she’s never been. She’s got 8 years of art education and she’s working a waitress job. It’s pretty… Sad and disappointing, I guess. Her and my father divorced 6 years ago and she hasn’t had a real job ever. Just been stuck in a small town she’s not from.

I’m in the process of trying to make a living off my art, and would like to start off small. I’m offering character drawings and caricatures for £5. This includes a single character drawn lovingly in Mechanical Pencil and coloured with care using watercolours. For an £3 I’ll mail you the original and a handwritten note of thanks. I also work in digital, I’ll work in either way you prefer so just let me know. <3

It’s £5 per character, any additional backgrounds or props I draw won’t be charged because they aren’t going to be the focus.

I’ll email you the final and if you like it, you can simply add the £3 and I’ll mail it out, this will help avoid you spending money on something you’re not sure you want. I’ll make every effort to make sure it gets there.

I am willing to do fanart, but I will need to look for reference and a basic description of how you feel the characters would best be represented.

Animals and pet drawings are completely fine. Ponies are also good.

You can send me references via email if you want a drawing of yourself or friends/family/original characters or anything inbetween and I will get the finished piece back to you ASAP. I’m afraid I cannot make amendments at this low cost and if you are really unhappy I can only offer my apologies and we’ll discuss it from there.

If you want a message written on the drawing that is also free. I’ll mail it out to anybody you tell me too. Let me know if it’s a gift and I’ll personalise the little letter for them. –Yes, I do marriage proposals, weddings and birthdays (If you need me to!), I’m willing to do pretty much anything so long as it’s fun, I get paid and I can pull it off.-

Scans of the work will be taken and possibly put on my Website/Tumblr. But it will never be used for profit on my part. It’ll be yours to love forever, so long as you don’t sell prints of it. That’s a huge nope.

If you’re interested please send me a private message. I’ll start work on your image after payment is received and the art will be ready within a week (seven days after payment) for you. No questions asked. I’ll do my best to let you know if there’s a backlog.

I know people love my sister and care about her and I know it’s hard dealing with mental illness in someone you love but… I really wish people would think before they spoke.

Phrases like ‘you are not the only one going through are hard time’ and ‘you deal with it, I’ve been busy today’ are not super appropriate for someone one week out of hospital and that survived a big trip to the supermarket that day.

I understand it’s hard to see what people go through with a mental illness but, quite frankly, I don’t care. Suck your bullshit up and be helpful for a while. It will be clear to you when you don’t need to be so helpful. And keep calm. It is an imbalance of chemicals in the brain talking, not the person you love.

I’m not saying I’m perfect because today I’m sick and exhausted and no I wasn’t super helpful when I should have tried to be, but shit, at least I didn’t make things worse or place blame for feeling like talking about potato chips is hard.

Sorry about ranting. This is not my fine social worker form for sure.
